Fernbrook Camps

Here at Fernbrook, your kids might get a little dirty. Ok, to be honest they're gonna get a lot dirty, but that's what happens when they get truly active and experience the farm and woods firsthand. Kids learn the nature of the outdoors and about human nature. Each child leaves Fernbrook with a sixth sense, a sense of appreciation for the natural world, agriculture, and healthy lifestyles.

Summer Camp runs from the last week of June to Labor Day (June 23 – August 29), and is for children ages 6 – 11. Campers may join us for just one week, or as many weeks as you wish.

The day starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. (extended care is available). The price is $195 per child, per week, with sibling and military discounts.

If you'd like to share your child with us this summer, print and mail the 2008 Summer Camp Registration Form (PDF, 1.3MB).

Campers will be provided a healthy snack, but are expected to bring a nutritious lunch.

Guided by experienced staff in groups of no more than ten, campers have the ability to choose the activities in which they want to participate and there's always brand new ones to pick from everyday!

These activities help campers see the connections which can be made between agriculture, the natural world and themselves. It is our goal to provide your child with a summer full of fun and learning.

During a typical day at Fernbrook you might find yourself...

  • exploring the ponds and creeks looking for insects and frogs
  • collecting vegetables from our Children's Garden
  • building a shelter/learning about wilderness survival
  • making a musical instrument out of something natural you've found in the woods
  • enjoying a group of new friends
  • hiking through the forest
  • getting dirty
  • catching butterflies to put in our Butterfly House
  • spinning wool from our sheep
  • collecting eggs from the henhouse
  • cooking in a Solar Oven
  • making ice cream with milk and fruits from the farm
  • feeding a pig or a steer or other farmyard animals
  • starting a campfire with a Bow Drill
  • learning to use a map and compass

... wishing the day wouldn't come to an end.
