Young Stewards Camp

Week 6: Delaware River Canoe Trip 4-day/3-night

Week 6 of summer camp for Young Stewards Program is our 4-day/3-night Canoe and Camping trip along the Delaware River.  We’ve been making this 35 mile journey along the Delaware since 2010 and every trip creates experiences and memories that last a lifetime.

Plan for the Trip: Canoe 35 miles of the Delaware River starting at Milford Beach Access, PA and ending at Kittatinny Point Visitors Center (“The Gap”)

Monday- Campers spend the day at Fernbrook working on their team-building skills, learning how to set-up their tents, practice their canoeing skills at the irrigation pond, gather/pack their cooking and camping supplies, and scheduling their meals for the trip.

Tuesday- Campers should arrive at Fernbrook between 8am-8:30am. We will finalize any packing that needs to be done, and mix up our trail mix. We will depart Fernbrook by 10am and head to Milford Beach Access, PA. We will paddle about 5 -7 miles to our first campsite (Sandyston, NJ).

Wednesday- The group will canoe about 10 more miles to our second campsite (Mill Creek, PA).

Thursday- The group will canoe approximately another 12 miles to our third campsite (Quinns, NJ).

Friday- The group will canoe about 8 miles to be picked up at Kittatinny Point Visitors Center and make our way back to Fernbrook to be picked up by parents at 4pm.
